Scrum

Scrum.org - Scrum.org provides Professional Scrum Master Assessments

People who have passed PSM I achieve certification, and demonstrate a fundamental level of Scrum mastery.  PSM I certificate holders prove they understand Scrum as described in the Scrum Guide and concepts for applying it.  PSM I holders have a consistent terminology and approach to Scrum.

Scrum Alliance - Scrum Alliance provides Certified Scrum Master Assessments

A Certified ScrumMaster® helps project teams properly use Scrum, increasing the likelihood of the project's overall success. CSMs understand Scrum values, practices, and applications and provide a level of knowledge and expertise above and beyond that of typical project managers. CSMs act as "servant leaders," helping the rest of the Scrum team work together and learn the Scrum framework.

Difference between PSM (Professional Scrum Master) and CSM (Certified Scrum Master) certifications

Before I took the scrum.org PSM exam I looked into the difference between the PSM and CSM certifications. A large part of my choice came down to timing and cost. I already had a good understanding of scrum and didn't want to spend the money required to take the full scrum alliance course. After doing some research I decided that both certifications are in good standing with neither of them particularly ranked higher than the other. That never stops people from some fierce debate though!
